January 13, 2022The ERAP OTDA application portal was previously closed to Towns of Brookhaven and Babylon tenants looking to apply for emergency rental assistance as OTDA had projected the towns were out of ERAP funds. Due to a lawsuit filed by the Legal Aid Society, a judge directed OTDA to reopen the portal to towns it had previously been closed to such as Babylon and Brookhaven. New applicants are not guaranteed funds but in the event more funding becomes available, these new applicants will already have their foot in the door. As the eviction moratorium is ending on January 15, 2022, any ERAP applicants will receive a stay on any eviction proceeding until a determination is made on the ERAP application.
